Principal focus is the point at which a beam of light that is parallel to principal axis will converge/diverges after refraction. Focal length is the distance between the optical center and principal focus of the lens.

The focus for a beam of incident rays parallel to the axis is called a Principal Focus.

A point on the axis of a lens that is so located that any ray of light passing through it in passing through the lens suffers no net deviation and that may be within, without, or on either surface of the lens is called an Optical Centre.

What is a Principal Axis?

The straight line process through the pole and center of curvature of mirror is called a Principal Axis.
