It is a missile designed to be fired from a gun or according to physics, an object is thrown upward with a certain angle to the horizontal surface is a projectile. this term is usually referred to as a ranged weapon. And the path followed by a projectile is a parabola.

When an object is thrown with some initial velocity and then is allowed to fall under the effect of gravity, then it is called projectile. The path is parabolic in nature and is known as Trajectory of the Projectile...... For eg. ==> Throwing of a ball etc.
