What is protoplasm? Who gave the term protoplasm?

Protoplasm is the mixture of a cell nucleus and a cell cytoplasm. The person who discovered it first was Felix Dujardin in 1835 and then  J. E Purkinje in 1839.

Protoplasm:

Protoplasm is a colorless, viscid, semifluid, complex and translucent substances which is present in any plant or animal cells consisting of nucleus and a cytoplasm. It contains proteins, fats and other molecules dissolved in a water. It controls the major functions of the cell.

Protoplasm was first discovered by Dujardin, in the year 1835 and named as “sarcode” and then the protoplasm name was given by J.E. Purkinje,in the year 1839.
