Punnet square is developed by a British geneticist, Reginald punnett.
-It is graphical representation to calculate the probability of all possible genotypes of offspring in a genetic cross.
Among a pair of alleles one is dominant and other is recessive.
The phenotype expressed by F1 individuals is considered as dominant phenotype..
For example, Cross between tall ×dwarf.
all the F1 plants were tall..so, tall is dominant over dwarf.
but F2 individuals were having both tall and short phenotypes..this can be explained by law of independent segregation.
the dwarf trait was not expressed among F1 but it is expressed in F2 that means, the genes for particular trait doesn't blend with the other genes.
At the time of gamete formation, the two Factor's seperate or segregate and pass in to seperate gametes.A gamete comes to have one factor of a pair.
Thus, predicted the occurrence of meiosis long before it was discovered..
the gametes fuse randomly during fertilisation so that factors come together in new generations and express themselves freely.
