Rainwater harvesting is the collection and accumulation of rain water which can be used in future instead of allowing it to flow away. The water collected is stored in a well, shaft etc which have percolation. The harvested water can be used in irrigation, gardens, domestic use etc., it is also used for drinking purpose. Rainwater harvesting is one of the oldest and simplest techniques of storing fresh water etc.

Harvested water can also be used for drinking purpose as well as for daily household activities for ‘Groundwater Recharge’ which means water moves downward from the surface into inside the ground, it is a method in which water reaches into a storage.

Answer:

Rain harvesting is the collection and storage of rain , rather than allowing it to run off. rain water is collected from a roof like surface and redirected to a tank, cistern, deep pit aquifer , or a reservoir with percolation so that it seeps down and restores the ground water.

hope this answer helps uh...!!
