This memory is very small and limited. So we cannot store large information in this memory.

This memory stores all the information in the form of electric signals.

So whenever powers fails or we switch off the computer all the information that has been stored is lost, which means it is volatile.

Therefore there was requirement of some

other memory medium where large data and information can be stored permanently.

There are two types of RAM

1. SRAM (Static RAM)

2. DRAM(Dynamic RAM)
