Rational Numbers are those numbers which can be expressed in the form of p/q where q is not equal to 0. they can be negative as well as positive. Their decimal expansion is either terminating or repeating. For e.g. 3/5 and -6/7 etc.
Irrational numbers , on the other hand, are numbers which can't be expressed in the form of p/q. Their decimal expansion is not recurring. For e.g 4.83868868695020 , 0.63727263563727109 and root 2 etc.

Answer:
Irrational numbers are numbers that cannot be expressed as the ratio of two whole numbers.
This is opposed to rational numbers, like 2, 7, one-fifth and -13/9, which can be, and are, expressed as the ratio of two whole numbers.
When expressed as a decimal, irrational numbers go on forever after the decimal point and never repeat.
