The metals are arranged in a series in descending order on the basis of the reactivity of the meta which l is called the reactivity series . the most reactive metal is placed at the top and the least one at the bottom. hydrogen is not a metal but it is placed in the reactivity series because its chemical properties are similar to those of metals.metals like gold and silver, placed below hydrogen, do not displace hydrogen during the reaction...

Hi friend,

Reactivity series

Arrangement of metals in the decreasing order of their reactivity in a series is known as reactivity series.

The reactive metals are placed on the top.

The metals at the bottom are least reactive.

Hydrogen being a non metal is placed in t middle or the series to bifurcate reactive and non reactive metals.

Metals above hydrogen are reactive while the metals below hydrogen is less reactive.
