What is redox reaction? Identify the substance oxidized and substance reduced in the following reactions:- (a)2PbO+C----->Pb+CO2 and (b)MnO2----->MnCL2+2

Reaction, in which reduction and oxidation.i.e., Addition of Oxygen and Removal of Hydrogen and vice-versa takes place simultaneously, is called REDOX REACTION.
PbO is reduced to Pb.
C is oxidised to CO2.
(b) could be:-
4HCl + MnO2 ————> MnCl2 + Cl2 + 2H2O

Here,
HCl is oxidised to Cl2.
MnO2 is reduced to MnCl2.
