Reflex arc is a neural pathway that controls the reflex action. It is a pathway followed by nerves which carry sensory from the receptor to spinal chord and then carry the response of the spinal chord to the effector organs during a reflex action.

Nerve cells have neurotransmitter storage vesicles going only in one direction and the receptors are in only one place. Therefore, the nerve impulses cannot move in opposite directions.
