Explanation:

ans 1 - Reproduction is the process by which new individuals are produced by the parents. The process of reproduction ensures that a plant or animal species does not disappear from Earth. This process is very important in maintaining stability in the ecosystem and for the continuation of life on earth.

ans 2 - Difference between Sexual and Asexual Reproduction

Asexual Reproduction Sexual Reproduction

Only mitosis type of cell division occurs. Both meiosis and mitosis type of cell division occurs.

The progeny and the parent are genetically identical. The progenies will be genetically different from the parents.

ans - 3 Sexual mode of reproduction is better mode than asexual because in sexual mode there is fusion of male and female gametes through which we get variation in offspring as compared to their parents

Question :-

What is reproduction? Why is it essential?  What are the two modes of reproduction. Differentiate with example

. Which mode of reproduction is better and why?

Reproduction :-

Reproduction is the process in which a new offspring is produced by the fusion of gametes or by asexual mode of reproduction.

The 2 types of reproduction namely are :-

  • Sexual reproduction
  • Asexual reproduction

Sexual reproduction :-

The mode of reproduction with the involvement of the male and the female. In this type of reproduction, fusion of gametes take place to produce a zygote. The development of the zygote can take place internally or externally. The fusion of the male and female gamete is called as fertilization.

Example :- Reproduction in humans

Asexual reproduction :-

The mode of reproduction in which only a single parent is involved for the reproduction. The fusion of gametes don't take place. The offspring is a clone to the parent

Example :- Simple binary fission by amoeba.

Difference :-

Asexual :- Involvement of only one parent

Sexual :- Male and female are involved

Asexual :- No fusion takes place

Sexual :- Fusion of male and female gamete take place

Asexual :- The offspring is a clone to the parent

Sexual :- The progeny produced has traits from both the parents and is a completely different individual.

Which reproduction method is better?

Sexual mode of reproduction is better, as in this type of reproduction, the offspring formed has traits from the mother and father and is not a complete clone, hence every individual will be unique and different than the other.
