its a system that helps our body to breathe and also utilize the oxygen to derive the required energy . so it consists of normal breathing[through nostrils means external respiration] and the oxidation of the food leading to the release of energy [internal respiration].
This system consists of the combination of organs that are called respiratory organs that are different in different animals .fr example we have lungs and insects have tracheal tubes . So in human it consits of our respiratory tract including nostrils , nasal tube , larynx, trachea , lungs ,bronchi and alveoli . During this respiratory process , diffusion of gases occurs through the alveolar membrane.
