What is reverberation? Give ways to prevent reverberation in big halls

Heya,

The persistence of sound in a big hall due to the repeated reflection of sound from the ceilings, floor and walls of the hall is known as Reverberation.

Steps to reduce:-
1. Heavy curtains are put to windows and doors to avoid reverberation.
2.In big halls seats are covered with sound absorbing materials to avoid the multiple reflections.

Reverberation is the persistence of sound due to multiple reflections of sound waves from opaque objects.

A short reverberation is desirable.But excess reverberation is highly undesirable as the sound is blurred ,confusing .

Ways to prevent reverberation :-

>> The walls and ceiling of big halls and theatres are draped with heavy curtains and sound absorbent materials like rough plaster,draperies ,fiber board,etc
>> The seats in auditorium are made of selective sound absorbing material
