Ribosome discover by Palade. It is made up of protein nd RNA. So it is called ribo nucleoprotein. It is found in cytoplasm nd attached with endoplasmic reticulum. It is also found in nucleus. There are two types of ribosome-

80s type - It is larger in size its sedimentary coefficient is 80s. It smaller unit is 40s nd larger unit is 60s. It is found in eukaryotes.

70 s type - it is smaller in size its sedimentary coefficient is 70s. Its smaller unit is 30s nd larger is 50s. It is found in prokaryotes.

It main function is protein synthesis.
