Skin has three layers: The epidermis, the outermost layer of skin, provides a waterproof barrier and creates our skin tone.
The cells of the epidermal tissue form a continuous layer without any intercellular space..

1) regulates gas exchange,

Epidermis is present on the outer surface of the whole plant body. The cells of the epidermal tissue form a continuous layer without any intracellular space. It performs several important functions: 1. It's cells 're water resistant this prevent excess loss of water. 2. It is the protective tissue which protects the plant body. 3. Allow exchange of gases through stomata. Hope it helps.....
