hey mate,,,,

here's ur answer....

epidermis is the outermost layer .....

Skin has three layers: The epidermis, the outermost layer of skin, provides a waterproof barrier and creates our skin tone.

The cells of the epidermal tissue form a continuous layer without any intercellular space..

roles :--
It forms a boundary between the plant and the external environment.

The epidermis serves several functions:

1) regulates gas exchange,

2) it protects against water loss,

3)secretes metabolic compounds,

and

4) (especially in roots) absorbs water and mineral nutrients.

hope it is helpful

Epidermis is present on the outer surface of the whole plant body. The cells of the epidermal tissue form a continuous layer without any intracellular space. It performs several important functions:     1. It's cells 're water resistant this prevent excess loss of water.   2. It is the protective tissue which protects the plant body.    3. Allow exchange of gases through stomata.       Hope it helps.....
