Root pressure is the flow of sap in plants by osmosis to move sap from the roots to the leaves. Sunction pressure may be positive or negative pressure as in water pumps. Surface well pumps normally have a negative pressure on the Sunction side of a pump and lift water from a well to the discharge side of the pump

Root pressure is the transverse osmotic pressure within the cells of a root system that causes sap to rise through a plant stem to the leaves.

The actual pressure with which cell absorbs water is called "suction pressure". In refrigeration and air conditioning systems, the suction pressure' (also called the low-side pressure) is the intake pressuregenerated by the system compressor while operating.
