Rusting is a type of corrosion which occur on the surface of iron material when it come in contact with atmospheric oxygen.

Rancidity when a substance contain oil and fats are exposed to air they get oxidized and become raincid due to which their smell change and colour also.

Corrosion is the process where the water or the moisture on this surface and oxidized with the atmospheric oxygen.

Answer:

Rusting:-

When iron reacts with oxygen and moisture forms a red substance which is called rust or rusting.

Example:-

                     Fe + O• → Fe2+ + O( 2 -) —-> FeO

Rancidity:-

Oils and fats when get oxidized on exposure to air show a change in taste and smell then it known as rancidity.

Example:-

Oil becomes rancid due to decomposition of fats it contains or sometimes milk becomes rancid.

Corrosion:-

Metals when comes with contact  of oxygen, water, acids, gases, present in air changes its surface which is called corrosion.

Example:-

  • Corrosion of machines
  • Silver form black colour Silver Sulphide on Corrosion.
