Ruhtherford alpha ray scattering experiment is the experiment done to know the shape of the atom.

Radioactive isotopes were kept in a lead box, in the presence of a gold foil that is very thin.

The alpha rays emitted hit the gold foil. Most of the rays passed through the foil, but some were deflected.

Hope this helps!

Rutherford alpha particle experiment was about the positive and negative charges of atom. Rutherford started this experiment by using a X-Ray machine.

Rutherford thought that alpha particle will deflect without touching atim but he was shocked when he saw that alpha particle deflected in the back, because atom was made by hard nucleus. His experiment gave the new idea of atom that electrons with mass is around electrons.
