SI stands for "system international unit of France"
different physical quantities like "length, mass , etc" must have a unit accepted by all individuals.
for example , if "one foot" is to be taken as the unit of length , that won't be uniform world wide as not everyone has equal foot size
so a unit was taken "metre" , which was same for all
such units which are same for all and world wide accepted are called SI units
example :-
1) length (metre)
2) mass (gram)
3) speed (m/s)
4) time (second)
