S.I stands for System of International Units for comparison of Physical quantities throughout the world.

There are three system: CGS, FPS MKS system.
In CGS, the unit of length, mass or weight and time will be in centimetre, gram & seconds respectively.

In FPS system, the unit of lenght, mass & time will be in Foot, Pound and second respectively.

In MKS System, the unit of lenght mass and time will be in Metre, Kilgram & seconds.

There are mainly seven Physical quatities & their S.I unit are:

1) unit of length is metre(m)
2) unit of mass or weight is kilogram(kg)
3) unit of time is second (s)
4) Unit of electric current is Ampere (A).
5) Unit of thermodyanmic temperature is kelvin (K).
6) Unit of amount of substance is mole (mol.)
7) Unit of Luminous intensity is candela(cd).

Note that: 1kg = 1000g.
There is a comparision of same physical quantity - mass in two units g & kg.

But S.I unit of mass is kg.
