Sahyadri mountain range extends along the western edge of the Deccan Plateau. It begins to the south of the Tapti River in Gujarat- Maharashtra border and covers the sates of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Maharashtra, Kerala and stretches to the southernmost tip of the Indian Peninsula for about 1600 km.
