the word muvendar mentioned in sangam poems is a tamil word which meant three chiefs. It was used for the heads of three ruling families that are the cholas, the cheras and the pandyas. They came to power and rose in south India around 2,300 years ago. The sangam literature is our main source of information about these dynasties.
