Screening Effect
Shielding effect is also known as screening effect and it can be defined as a reduction in the effective nuclear charge on the electron cloud, due to a difference in the attraction forces of the electrons on the nucleus.
It is also referred to as the screening effect (or) atomic shielding.

Answer:
Screening effect is defined as the reduction of nuclear charge on electrons. This is caused by the difference in the attraction forces. According to n+l rule , the electrons with less energy have more nuclear charge and the electrons with more energy face less nuclear charge.
