A secular state is an idea pertaining to secularism, whereby a state is or purports to be officially neutral in matters of religion, supporting neither religion nor irreligion.

in India, secular state actually refers to the secular country itself. it means that citizens have the right to follow any religion . but there is no official religion. government treats all religious beliefs and practices with equal respect.
