What is self incompatibility why does self pollination not lead to seed formation in self compatibility?

self compatibility when pollen grain cannot perform pollination and cannot lead to seed formation because when pollen grain reach to stigma then synergids degenerate and release chemical if chemical acepptance is not there of same species .
