A separation process is a method that converts a mixture or solution of chemical substances into two or more distinct product mixtures. At least one of results of the separation is enriched in one or more of the source mixture's constituents. In some cases, a separation may fully divide the mixture into pure constituents. Separations exploit differences in chemical properties or physical properties (such as size, shape, mass, density, or chemical affinity) between the constituents of a mixture.

Answer:

Hey there,

Separation is a process which is mainly used to separate a mixture or a solution into two or more constituents.

Importance: This process is importance for research and innovation purposes. It helps to figure the composition of mixtures and solution so that each can be studies individually with prospects of discovering new ways of using them.

Types: There are several types of separation procedure that are used according to the mixture that is being separated. for example, Electrolysis, evaporation, sublimation, crystallisation, gravitational methods and etc.

Thanks for asking.
