What is shifting cultivation? Give a brief answer

Shifting cultivation is an agricultural system in which plots of land are cultivated temporarily, then abandoned and allowed to revert to their natural vegetation while the cultivator moves on to another plot.

shifting cultivation was used in order time to grow more crop at field. They grew one crop and after cultivationg them they grew the crop in other field. By doing this they gave time to the field to get its nutrients back
