Shifting cultivation is when a certain patch of land is cultivated and then burnt when it becomes infertile. It is banned in most countries since it leads to land degradation. It is also called 'slash and burn' cultivation.

SHIFTING CULTIVATION IS ALSO KNOWN AS PODU CULTIVATION. GOVERNMENT BANNED THIS CULTIVATION BECAUSE IN THIS CULTIVATION AN AREA IN A FOREST WAS CUT DOWN AND CULTIVATED THERE. AFTER HARVESTING THEY LEAVE THAT LAND AND SELECT ANOTHER LAND AND CONTINUE SAME PROCESS. SO GOVERNMENT EXAMINED THE FOREST IS CLEARED. SO THEY BANNED PODU. ....

HOPE THIS HELPS U. @MP. .
