A falling star or shooting star is not same as the stars we see in the sky. These amazing streaks of light you can see in the night sky are caused by particles of dust,rocks and differ gases are called meteoroids falling into the earth's atmosphere burns up. The short lived trail of light the burning meteoroids is called meteor. Shooting stars look like burning stars. Shooting stars are also called as falling stars, burning stars and meteoroids.
