Constitution is usually written for a sovereign country or state, which rules itself.  It is the set of written rules and principles based on which the country will be run.

Constitution contains the law to which everyone must conform. The way the country is guided or rules, how the law is made, how it is implemented, what the roles of the top administrative persons like President, Prime minister, king, ministers, and employees are, is written clearly in the law.

Justice in the country is implemented based on the constitution.  Most important for the people is that  the rights and responsibilities of the people are mentioned in the constitution.

Constitution is the rule book which protects people from exploitation by external or internal forces.
