We use the base form of the verb + - s or - es with singular nouns and pronouns in the third person to form positive sentences in the simple present tense.

  • He works on weekends too.

  • She plans to visit her brother next month.

We use do not (don't) + the bare infinitive, that is, the base form of the verb or does not (doesn't) + the bare infinitive to form negative sentences in the simple present tense.

  • We don't want to delay this project any longer.

  • He doesn't want to delay the project any longer.

We use do/does + subject + the bare infinitive to form questions in the simple present tense. We can also use do/does after question words.
