What is Sn series. And how wefind tn

am just wondering. For example, for series 1+2+3+4+5+6+.... the Tn is k, while the Sn is (n)(n+1)/2. I do know there are rules to reach the summation for each case (for example, for series k2, the summation is n(n+1)(2n+1)/2, etc), so is there a more general way to convert the summation Sn to Tn just like the the case of derivation and integration in Calculus?
