It'scaused by shock waves created by any object that travels through the air faster than the speed of sound. Sonic boomscreate huge amounts of sound energy. When an object moves through the air, it makes pressure waves in front of and behind it.

Sonic boom is a phenomenon or occurance which happens when an object travells faster than the speed of light in air. It is basically the schock waves created by the object. It generates a lot of sound energy

An example of the same could be when a SR-71 aircraft...flies through air...it produces sonic boom
