hysics, sound is a vibration that typically propagates as an audible wave of pressure, through a transmission medium such as a gas, liquid or solid. In human physiology and psychology, sound is the reception of such waves and their perception by the brain.

SOUND : -

⏺Sound is a pressure wave travelling in the air which is produced by a vibrating body.

⏺Every source of sound is a vibrating body.

⏺Sound can travel through solids , liquids and gases but cannot travel through vacuum.

⏺The speed of sound is maximum in the solids , of middle order in the liquids and least in the gases.

⏺Loudness of sound is measured in decibels ( dB).

⏺Sound plays an important role in our lives. It helps us to communicate with one another. We can recognise different living and non - living things without actually seeing them from the sound they produce.
