The rate at which object covers specific distance, is called as speed. Though, speed is a kinematical quantity, Speed is a scalar quantity. Speed is ignorant of direction. Speed's units is - k/hr.
As the motion's rate is velocity, we can say speed (average) is way to measure distance.
