A Spherical mirror can be defined as a mirror that has a surface that is either convex or concave is a part of a sphere.
Spherical mirrors have the following properties:
- Pole: It has a midpoint known as the pole.
- Centre of Curvature: It is the center of the sphere of which the mirror is a part.
- Radius of Curvature: It is the distance between the Pole and the Center of Curvature.
- Focus: It is the point on the principal axis where light rays parallel to the principal axis and with each other, converge or appear to diverge from.
- Principal Axis: It is the straight line that joins the Focus, the Center of Curvature, and the Pole.
- Focal length: It is the distance between the center of curvature and the focal point of the mirror.
