★ Squamous Epithelium Tissue

Squamous epithelium is made up of thin, flat, polygonal cells. They are having disc like structure. The nucleus is rounded, bulging and centrally located. They form a structure as that of a floor tile.

Structure :-

In this tissue, cells are flat, discoidal & polygonal which fit like the tiles in a floor so is thinnest tissue.

Position & function :-

It is found in alveoli of lung for for exchange of gases ; in Bowman's capsule of nephrons of kidneys for ultrafiltration ; and in blood capillaries (called endothelium) for exchange of materials between body cells & blood.
