a large land mass which is a part of continent is known as a subcontinent

why they are called so??

1. They are called because we do share same cultural identity and a lot of countries including India were under same political scene that is British
2. Coming to the geographical point of view, India and its neighbouring countries were under same plate that is Indian plate
3. Regarding all this things India and its neighbouring countries are called indian subcontinent
