Let no. Of fruits be x and no. Of veggies be y
Now suppose it is given that no. of fruits is 2 more than y and 3times the no. of fruits + no. of veggies be =46
Therefore the two equations will be formed as
....... x-y=2
....... 3x+y=46
Now add both equations
x-y=2
3x+y=46
This equals to 4x=48 as the (-y) from eq1 and +y from eq2 eliminated
On further solving, x=12
Now put this value in eq1
12-y=2
y=10
That's your elimination method
