The development which aims to meet the demands of the present as well as the needs of future generations is called sustainable development.

It has been derived from the Brundtland Report (Our Common Future) which was published in 1987. The objective of this report was to consider environment and development as one single issue.

IMPORTANCE OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT:-

1. The resources of Earth are finite.

2. We need to live a quality and pollution-free environment.
