This is a national level campaign and is being run by the Indian government, which has been started for the cleaning of cities and villages. This campaign involves the construction of toilets, promoting cleanliness programs in rural areas, cleaning of streets and roads, changing the country's infrastructure etc. This campaign was officially started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Mahatma Gandhi's 145th birth anniversary on 2 October 2014 in New Delhi.
