what is that g to the power minus one.
I have seen this in many of my sums in physics and math.​

Answer:

It's a unit J=joule & G=gram it was actually as J/g

while -1 come because g was in denominator

while anything in given in the denominator in positive & if it is written in numerator it becomes negative
