Answer:

Acceleration means the change in the velocity per unit time. A body is said to be accelerated if its velocity is increased or decreased. Acceleration only takes place if the velocity changes. If the velocity of the body increases with time, then body is positively accelerated. Where as if the velocity of the body decreases with time then the body is said to be negatively accelerated or retarted.

 So, you can now understand how acceleration is totally depend upon the velocity.

The rate of change of velocity with respect to time is called acceleration .

it is a vector quantity .

it is denoted by 'a'

Mathmatical form

if u is initial velocity v is final velocity and t is time taken by body

then

a = (v - u)/t

v = u +at

in case of distance it can obtained by

s = ut + at^2/2

or

v^2 = u^2 + 2as ( if time not given )
