The Falling of a body or object from a height towards the earth under the gravitational force of earth with no other forces acting on it is called a free fall.
Acceleration of an object falling freely towards a does not depend on the mass of the object. During free fall the heavier objects as well as an lighter objects accelerate at the same rate.
The gravitational force of earth produces a uniform acceleration in the free falling object due to which its speed goes on increasing. This is called acceleration of free fall ( the acceleration due to gravity ) . The value of acceleration of free fall is 9.8 m/ s²
