Answer:

The acceptance angle of the optical fibre is 22.95°

Explanation:

Given that,

For an optical fibre-

The refractive index of the core is 1.55

 =  >  \mu _{cr} = 1.55

The refractive index of cladding is 1.50

 =  >  \mu _{cl} = 1.50

We are required to find the acceptance angle of the optical fibre based on these values.

Let the acceptance angle be α the relation for this angle with the refractive indexes is

 \sin( \alpha )  =  \sqrt{ \mu_{cr} {}^{2}  -\mu_{cl} {}^{2} }

Substituting the known values in the above relation,we get

 \sin( \alpha )  =  \sqrt{1.55 {}^{2} -  {1.50}^{2}  }   \\ =  \sqrt{0.1525}  = 0.39 \\  =  >  \alpha  =  \sin {}^{ - 1} (0.39) = 22.95 {}^{0}

Therefore,the acceptance angle of the optical fibre is 22.95°
