Conc sulphuric acid is both an oxidizing agent as well as dehydrating agent. Hence it removes a water molecule as a dehydrating agent and another water molecule by oxidizing hydrogen. Hence a mixture of CO and CO2 gases are formed.

2HCOOH——— CO+CO2+2H2O

Sulfuric acid react with formic acid to produce carbon monoxide and hydrate sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid - concentrated solution.
