ADMINISTRATION UNDER THE PALLAVA. Monarchy : The Pallavas had followed the system of monarchy. The king was the head of the kingdom.

A well organised administration has exist in the Pallava Kingdom.we get a lot of information from the literature and inscriptions to know the various administration of the Pallava dynasty .the rules of the southern kingdoms also followed provincial rule like their counterparts in the north.These rulers have their own well organised Army comprising of elephants, Chariots and foot soldiers but there were a few new development for new development was the use of private Army by the rulers .These private Armies were maintained by local military leaders known as Samanthas. these private Armies were utilised by rulers in time of emergency. the Samanthas provided troops to the kings and in return received land as gift from the kings.
