If you are talking about Pseudomonas fluorescens, it helps host plants by protecting the plant(s), especially it’s roots from parasitic fungi like Fusarium and plant - feeding nematodes.
A tentative conclusion(s) about how P.fluorescens is able to create such resistance (for the host plant) is that:
1) this bacterium is able to generate a systemic resistance in the plant body so that the plant will be able to resist attacks from true pathogens.

2) this bacterium produces certain chemicals which are antibiotic in nature or toxic for other soil microbes, such as Hydrogen cyanide etc.

In general it promotes plant growth.
