Newton's laws of motion could explain motion of only large sized particles which includes objects around us. but it becomes very impractical to explain the behaviour of sub atomic particles like electrons using this concept. this could only be well explained in quantum theory. Not only this, quantum mechanics could even explain the discrete energy levels in an atom
