According to the reaction 2 mol ( or 2× 24.3 =48.6 g .)

Mg reacts with 32 g oxygen . 1g of mg requires =32/ 48.6 =0.66 g oxygen but given oxygen is 0.5 g .

therefore oxygen is limiting reagent 0.5 g oxygen can burn = 48.6/32 ×0.5 =0.75 g mg .

Excess of mg left =1-0.75 = 0.25 g.
